I have no idea why I’m saying it here of all places, but I do. I miss the memories of this summer that I have to keep locked away, because I know it’ll hurt too much to be reminded of how happy I felt. I miss those conversations that drifted into the wee hours of the night, because no matter what else was going on, they became the highlight of my days. I miss the afternoons we spent in that bizarre, wonderful forest, and wondering who we’d run into next. I miss how delightfully awkward we were, because even though it took us forever to learn how to talk to each other in public, we both knew deep inside that we still cared about each other. I miss that first Saturday afternoon when I was so scared and nervous that I ended up walking around the entire camp twice with you before we went into the forest. I miss sitting with you and laughing with you at Shabbat dinner, even though I was always so nervous about my appearance and you seeing me as handsome. I miss sitting with you in the forest and just talking for hours about school, life back home, family, and anything else that was on our minds. I miss running around on the last night, trying to escape the staff and madrichim at three in the morning and not worrying about what the coming days would bring. I miss having to climb up to the Shmoc to see you, because no matter how much I hated that hill, it was always worth it. I miss dancing with you during that last Shabbat song session and finally realizing just how amazing you made my summer. I miss being made fun of for discovering how much I like Taylor Swift. I miss getting lost in Manhattan and looking completely clueless in the process. I miss hearing you laugh at all of the stupid things I said to try and convince you that I was funny and witty. I miss thinking, “How on earth did I ever fool anyone so gorgeous into seeing anything in me?” every time I looked at you. I miss seeing that beautiful smile that could instantly cheer me up, no matter what the circumstances were. I miss those captivating eyes, bluer than the most picturesque summer skies that Lake Como, Pennsylvania had to offer. I miss all of the obnoxious comments I got from friends, both yours and mine. I miss your sarcastic nature and your unfailing kindness. I miss the way your fingers filled in the spaces in between mine once we were finally comfortable holding hands in public. I miss how no matter how weird or uncomfortable things ever got, talking to you or being with you was one of the best things I had going for me in life.

I miss you. I miss us, and I miss being together. I’m sorry for everything I’ve done over the past month and a half, and for how immature I’ve been. You’re probably never going to end up seeing this, and the chance that you’ll let me back into your life is even more minute. I know better than to think otherwise. But if you’re out there and end up reading this, I just wanted you to know what I wanted to say to you for so long.
